I.  Made in God’s Image

  • Just as the LORD is a triune being, we are also created as a three part being; spirit, soul and body.
  • Gen. 1:27  “God created man in His own image; male and female He created them.”
  • James 3:9  “who have been made in the similitude of God”
  • John 4:24  “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
  • Romans 8:9  “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.”
  • Colossians 3:9 – 10  “do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”

 II.  A New Creation

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 – 18  “Therefore, is anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  And now, all things are of God.”
  • We are no longer sinners.  Nor are we any longer sinners saved by grace.  That was a kyros moment, when God opened a portal from heaven and changed us from eternal death to life through salvation in Jesus Christ.  Now we are children of God.

III.   The Temple of the Holy Spirit

  • 1 Corinthians 3:16 – 17  “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
  • 1 Corinthians 6:19  “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you.”
  • 2 Corinthians 6:16  “For you are the temple of the living God.”

IV.  The Fragrance of Christ

  • 2 Corinthians 2:14  “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”
  • 2 Corinthians 2:15  “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ.”
  • We are called to be different.  People need to be able to look at us and KNOW that we are different, whether it be our smile, a sparkle in our eye, or just the smell of the LORD that engulfs us.

  V.  Called

  • Romans 1:6  “among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ.”
  • Romans 1:7  “called to be saints; beloved of God.”
  • Romans 8:28  “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
  • 1 Corinthians 1:9  “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:7  “For God did no call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.”
  • 1 Timothy 1:9  “who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

 VI.  Justified

  • To be justified is to be ‘just if I’d never sinned.'”
  • Romans 3:28  “justified by faith”
  • 1 Corinthians 6:11  “And such were some of you.  But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of  our God.”
  • Galatians 2:16  “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”
  • Galatians 3:24  “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.”
  • Titus 3:7  “that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

 VII.  Redeemed

  • Galatians 3:13  “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyong who hangs on a tree.”).”
  • Ephesians 1:7  “In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
  • Colossians 1:14  “in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

 VIII.  Washed & Sanctified

  • John 17:19  “And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be
  • 1 Corinthians 6:11  “And such were some of you.  But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

   IX.  Free

  • John 8:36  “Therefore is the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
  • Romans 6:7  “For he who has died has been freed from sin.”
  • Romans 6:18  “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”
  • Romans 8:2  “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:17  “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
  • Galatians 4:31  “So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.”

   X.  More Than A Conqueror/Overcomer

  • Romans 8:37  “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
  • 1 John 4:4  “You are of God, little children, and have overcome then, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
  • 1 John 5:4  “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”

 XI.  Heir of God/Joint Heirs With Christ

  • Romans 8:16 – 17  “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.  and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
  • Galatians 4:7  “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
  • Ephesians 1:11  “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.”
  • Colossians 1:12  “giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

XII.  Child of Promise

  • Galatians 4:28  “Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.”

XIII.  Known By God

  • Galatians 4:9 “But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?”

XIV.  An Epistle of Christ

  • 2 Corinthians 3:2 – 3  “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”

 XV.  Ambassador For Christ

  • 2 Corinthians 5:20  “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
  • Ephesians 6:19 – 20  “and pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
  • 1 Peter 2:9  “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”

XVI.  Son of God/Adopted Son

  • Galatians 3:7  “Therefore know that only those who are faith are sons of Abraham.”
  • Galatians 3:26  “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
  • Galatians 4:6, 7  “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
  • Ephesians 1:5  “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,”
  • 1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!”

XVII.  Person of Authority & Power

  • Matthew 10:8  “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
  • Matthew 21:21 – 22  “Jesus answered and said unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.  And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
  • Luke 9:1 – 2  “Then he called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.  And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
  • Luke 10:17  “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
  • Romans 6:14  “for sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
  • Ephesians 1:21 – 22 “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all.”
